Partnerships

Why Partnership?

Since our beginnings in 1993, Africa’s Children's Fund’s approach has evolved into one of community development, focused on strengthening families and community structures that make up a child’s environment. Our corporate and community relationships support this work, with sponsor funds pooled to improve life in the communities where sponsored families live. Today, support from partners is what allows us to remain in communities long term, building relationships with local partner organizations and focusing on children’s changing needs as they grow up. Support from diverse donors and institutions allows Africa’s Children’s Fund to expand and deepen its work with children and families even more. Sponsors’ friendship and encouragement further elevate Africa’s Children’s Fund’s impact for children, families and communities, increasing their well-being.

The Value of Local Partnerships

Founded in 1993 by Victor Mbaba, Africa's Children's Fund (ACF) is a private non-profit 501(c)(3) organization headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, U.S.A. Mbaba, who has worked with children for over twenty years, saw a critical need to motivate and support families and communities to nurture and support all children.

Since our inception in 1993, we have affected over 200,000 children in the United States of America, Africa, and the Caribbean through our development and relief programs for children.

Over the past year, through the kindness and generosity that you and others have provided to our organization, we were able to:

  • Provide transitional housing, rent and utility assistance to ensure housing for 866 people including children in metropolitan Atlanta.
  • Provide financial assistance for feeding programs for 160 orphans and homeless children in Nigeria, South Africa, and metropolitan Atlanta.
  • Provide 40,000 books for educational programs for over 20,000 students in Nigeria and Ghana.
  • Provide mentoring, summer and after school programs for 186 children in metropolitan Atlanta and Uganda.

We are pleased to have served over 21,000 children last year. However, our work is never ending as long as there is hunger, homelessness, hopelessness, illiteracy and families need us, with your help, and we will be around to help them!

Africa’s Children’s Fund has an administrative office located at 2310 Parklake Drive in Atlanta, GA and has a Programs facility located at 2270 Flat Shoals Road in Riverdale. Our programs also operate in elementary and secondary schools as well as recreational and community centers throughout metropolitan Atlanta.

Local Partners Are the Backbone of Long-Term Sustainability

Africa’s Children’s Fund has chosen to work through local partner organizations because we believe local ownership of change is fundamental to the social change process. We also believe that by acting in partnership we have a multiplier effect.

Working together — sharing resources, knowledge and experience — we can have greater impact in the short term and work to build stronger communities and institutions for the future.

Africa’s Children’s Fund partners with grassroots organizations are made up of people who live in the area and who have a stake in creating the conditions their children need to thrive.

Through these partnerships, Africa’s Children’s Fund reaches children directly while also involving parents, teachers, local government and larger systems in upholding children’s rights to health, nutrition, safety, education and more. The partnerships also help ensure that we respond in locally relevant ways to the challenges of growing up poor.
